From college football to music, Athens is often known more for its raucous partying than cultural destination.

But, The Classic City boasts a wealth of cultural, historical and whimsical attractions, making it highly worthy of a visit.

Located about 70 miles east of Atlanta, Livability.com earlier this year named the city one of the Top 10 Cities for Affordable Vacations, calling the city “a picture-perfect postcard of the American South.”
