Visit Tucson has named Mary Rittmann as director of public & community relations.
In the role, Rittmann will oversee the communications department for Visit Tucson, the official destination marketing organization for Tucson and southern Arizona. Before joining the AOT team, Rittmann worked for the City of Moab, Utah as executive director of the Grand County Travel Council, and served as director for Saga Holidays, in Boston, Mass., overseeing the Smithsonian Odyssey Tours product line.
“Along with utilizing her outstanding contacts with top national and international travel media to generate travel coverage for the Tucson and southern Arizona region, Mary will work to further integrate communications into Visit Tucson’s marketing initiatives,” Brent DeRaad, president & CEO of Visit Tucson, said in a news release.
Rittmann has more than 20 years of experience working in the tourism industry, nationally and internationally. Most recently, she spent the last 12 years promoting the state of Arizona as director of trade & media relations at the Arizona Office of Tourism (AOT). In this capacity, she worked with tour operators, travel agents, journalists and travel writers to generate visitation and unpaid editorial coverage for communities throughout Arizona. She also oversaw international marketing efforts in Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, France, Germany and China.
