ATLANTA — Firefighters on Saturday participated in fire rescue competitions, known as Musters, during the 2015 Fire in the 4th festival.
The festival commemorates the Great Atlanta Fire of 1917. That fire, which began just after noon on May 21, 1917, burned more than 300 acres in the Old Fourth Ward section of Atlanta.

Our common defense is the government’s greatest obligation. That is why Speaker of the House David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) appointed me as the chairman of the new House Military Affairs Study Committee, a committee that looks at ways we can improve the military value of Georgia’s bases. The committee’s fourth meeting was held at Fort Gordon in Augusta, and Congressmen Jody Hice and Rick Allen joined us in support of our efforts to protect Georgia’s bases.
The Kennesaw Museum Foundation and the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History will honor their members during the upcoming Heroes and Legends Gala.
