Georgia lawmakers want to name bridge for Capt. Herb Emory

ATLANTA — A group of Georgia lawmakers want to name a flyover bridge for the late Capt. Herb Emory.

Senate Resolution 40, filed last week, seeks to name the new flyover ramp on Interstate 85 at Georgia Highway 400 in honor of Emory. Emory, a former traffic reporter and radio personality for WSB-AM, died on April 12, 2014.

Emory worked for WSB-AM and WSB-TV since 1991. He previously worked for a number of other media outlets.

The North Carolina native moved to Atlanta in 1971.

Sponsors include Republican state Sens. Mike Dugan, Tommie Williams, Hunter Hill, Greg Kirk, Jeff Mullins and Butch Miller.
