Golden Gate Casino completes $15 million expansion

One of Las Vegas’ original casinos has completed a $15 million expansion.

The Golden Gate Hotel and Casino opened in 1906 as the Hotel Nevada. This latest expansion is the hotel’s first in 50 years.

Upgrades to the hotel include a 35,000-square-foot, five-story addition with 14 hotel suites that pay tribute tribute to notable guests from the past such as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin. The casino’s larger casino floor includes a “1920s flapper-inspired high-limit gaming room, complemented by Golden Gate’s playful dancing dealers,” the hotel said.

“The expansion and renovation of the Golden Gate preserves and enhances a Las Vegas legacy – not only this classic 106-year-old building, but the Las Vegas spirit and the mystique it embodies,” Golden Gate President and Co-owner Mark Brandenburg said in a news release. “Throughout the renovations, our goal was clear: remain true to our vintage Vegas character and deliver an experience that is original, people-centric and bursting with energy.”

The Golden Gate is located along Fremont Street, a few miles from the Strip. Fremont was the first street in Last Vegas to be paved.
