ATA: 11 months of increased passenger revenue

The Air Transport Association of America (ATA), reported that passenger revenue, rose 14.5 percent in November compared to the same month in 2009, marking the 11th consecutive month of revenue growth.

Miles flown by paying passengers rose 6.5 percent while the average price to fly one mile rose 7.5 percent. Passenger revenue improved 11 percent domestically and 23 percent in international markets.

“These revenue results give us confidence as we enter the heart of the winter holiday season,” ATA President and CEO James C. May said in a news release. “The relative strength of demand for traveling and shipping in international markets is especially encouraging.”

ATA data is based on a sample group of carriers.
