Walt Disney World Tencennial

Walt Disney World celebrated its tenth anniversary with a yearlong celebration that began in October 1981. As part of that celebration, the Magic Kingdom had a special parade.

“The Tencennial celebration leads up to the opening on Oct. 1, 1982, of the Epcot Center, a permanent world’s fair on the Disney property about two and a half miles south of the Magic Kingdom, The New York Times reported on Sept. 27, 1981. “Epcot originally stood for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, but the new center is not to be a city or a community as Walt Disney envisioned it.”
